Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed his gratitude for the assistance given by Gulf countries to Indians living there amid the West Asia conflict and said India is facing the global fuel crisis strongly.

In the 132nd episode of his radio show ‘Mann Ki Baat’, PM Modi urged political parties and citizens not to politicize the West Asia conflict and avoid spreading rumours.

Referring to the global turmoil due to the ongoing conflict between America, Israel and Iran, he said, “The month of March has been full of events at the global level. In the past, due to Covid-19, the whole world had to face many problems for a long time. We all hoped that after recovering from the Covid-19 crisis, the world will move forward on the path of progress with a new beginning. But situations of war and conflict are continuously emerging in different regions of the world. Stayed.”

He said, “Currently, a fierce war is going on in our neighborhood for a month. Lakhs of families have relatives living in these countries, and especially working in the Gulf countries. I am grateful to the Gulf countries that they are providing all kinds of assistance to the more than one crore Indians present there.”

The Prime Minister further said, “There is a deepening crisis around the world regarding petrol and diesel. Our global relations, support from various countries and the strength we have gained in the last decade have enabled India to face these challenges strongly. These are indeed challenging times. Today, through ‘Mann Ki Baat’, I once again urge all my countrymen that we should unite and face this challenge.”

Further, taking an indirect dig at the opposition, he said that “there is no room for selfish politics.”

He said, “Those politicizing this issue should not do so. This issue is related to the interests of 140 crore Indians and there is no place for selfish politics in it. Those spreading rumors are causing huge harm to the country. I appeal to all the countrymen to remain alert and not be misled by rumours. Trust the continuous information provided by the government and take action based on it.”

The conflict in West Asia began with the Israeli-US attacks on Iran on February 28, which killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iran retaliated and expanded the scope of the conflict, affecting its neighboring countries in the region. Amid the rise in crude oil prices in the global markets, the Center has decided to cut excise duty on petrol and diesel.

Amid reports of LPG crisis, the government has decided to move towards piped natural gas (PNG), while accelerating the creation of infrastructure to lay pipelines.

Prime Minister Modi on Saturday spoke over phone with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, in which the two leaders discussed the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Amidst the tension in the region, he has talked to many global leaders including US President Donald Trump.
