Severe cold has troubled people in North, Central and North-East India. The minimum temperature has gone down by 3–4°C in many states. At the same time, heavy rains are continuing in South India and IMD has issued an alert of increasing rain and cold for the next 7 days.

It is extremely cold in many parts of the country. The chill in the morning and evening has increased in North India, Central India and North-Eastern states. The mercury is continuously falling in Delhi, UP, Rajasthan, Bihar-Jharkhand and cold wave conditions have arisen in many places.

According to IMD, cold will be severe in many areas of Central Maharashtra and Western Madhya Pradesh on November 19 and 20.

The minimum temperature is also continuously falling in Konkan-Goa, Vidarbha, Telangana, Jharkhand, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

IMD says that

Temperature will remain stable in West and Central India for the next 24 hours

After this the temperature may increase by 2–4°C in the next 4 days.

Temperatures are also likely to rise by 2–3°C in northwest and eastern India

The minimum temperature in West Bengal will rise by 2–3°C in the next three days, but the weather will remain dry.

Darjeeling was the coldest place in Bengal on Tuesday with a temperature of 8.4°C, while Kalimpong recorded 12°C.

🥶 The mercury in Rajasthan is 4°C below normal.

Cold has arrived early in Rajasthan.
Fatehpur was the coldest city at 5.3°C.
Minimum temperatures in many parts of Rajasthan are 3–4 degrees below normal.

🌧️ Heavy rain in South India – alert issued

IMD has warned that heavy to very heavy rainfall may occur in South India for the next seven days.

Where will it rain?

Tamil Nadu: 19–24 November — very heavy rain

Andaman and Nicobar: 19–22 November — heavy rainfall

November 21: Extremely heavy rain at some places

Possibility of formation of low-pressure area in Bay of Bengal on November 22

Due to the effect of these systems, clouds, lightning and continuous rain will be seen in many parts of Andhra, Telangana, Karnataka and Kerala.

Q. Will schools be closed?
At present the Meteorological Department has only issued an alert. State governments will take the decision to close schools.

Q. Will this cold last long?
According to IMD, both cold and rain will continue for the next 1 week.
