On the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, Dashrathbhai Patel, a resident of Vadnagar in Mehsana district of Gujarat, said that Modi had dreamed of becoming the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 1969 even before three decades before assuming the Chief Minister in 2001.
Referring to the simple background of the Prime Minister, Patel told how Modi used to go from one box to another at Vadnagar railway station to sell tea at Vadnagar railway station, where his father had a tea shop. But the twist in the story came when Dasharathabhai shared a funny anecdote- ‘Narendra once caught a crocodile child from Sharmistha Lake in Vadnagar and brought home. Mother Hiraben scolded and rescued her back into the lake. ‘ This was the courage of the little Narendra, who is leading the country today.
An interview revealed- ‘In 1969, I and Narendra were passing by the old, dilapidated memorial of Tana-Riri (famous singer sisters of Gujarat) in Vadnagar. Then Narendra said, “When I become the Chief Minister, I will renovate this memorial.” At that time Modi was only 19 years old, but his dream was big. What else? As soon as CM became CM in 2001, he fulfilled the promise – brightened the Tana -Riri memorial. Dasharathabhai said, “He lived his dream for 32 years, and fulfilled.” This is Discipline, which makes PM the most different.
Recalling the old days, Dashrathbhai said, ‘We studied together from primary school to Visnagar College. RSS used to go with branches. Once Narendra and some friends came to my farm, and we ate the famous Udhiyu of Surat. He was also a star in school plays! These were the days when the PM’s dream was not just to sell tea, but the country was to change.
