Goa Police has approached the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to issue an ‘Interpol Blue Notice’ against club owners Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, the main accused in the nightclub fire case. Officials gave this information on Tuesday.
25 people died in a massive fire in the nightclub and after the incident, Saurabh and Gaurav fled the country.
According to the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), a Blue Notice is issued to gather additional information about a person’s identity, location or activities in connection with a criminal investigation.
A magisterial inquiry has been initiated into the massive fire that broke out at a restaurant-cum-club in Arpora, Goa, in which 25 people lost their lives. Officials have visited the spot, summoned all relevant documents, and are investigating the lapses due to which the club was running despite the expiry of its license, while the state government is extending full support to the families of the victims, the press note said.

The press note on Monday said a magisterial inquiry has been initiated, and the committee visited the spot and summoned all relevant documents. Furthermore, it is also reported that the sarpanch had signed NOCs for other permissions including electricity and water connections, house repairs and trade licenses. The premises continued to operate even after the trade license expired in March 2024. Under Section 72-A of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, the local body has the power to seal such premises. However, they failed to do so.
Club owners Gaurav and Saurabh Luthra, accused in the Goa club fire case, fled to Phuket, Thailand soon after the incident, Goa Police said on Monday. According to the press note, the police is coordinating with the Interpol division of the CBI to nab both the accused. Police said his visit to Phuket reflected his “intention to avoid investigation”.
