Speaking on the recent developments in the West Asia crisis, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, denied any shortage of LPG in India and said there have been no reports of LPG shortage at petrol pumps across the country. He further informed that 6,500 tonnes of commercial LPG was sold yesterday to meet the continuous demand of the fuel.

Speaking at the inter-ministerial briefing on recent developments in West Asia, the Joint Secretary further informed that all petrol pumps across the country are functioning normally.

He said oil marketing companies have organized 1,300 awareness camps to inform consumers about the availability of 5 kg cylinders. A total of 10,005 cylinders were sold by oil marketing companies during these awareness camps.

Sharma said, “No shortage of any kind has been reported in LPG distributor ships, all petrol pumps are running normally. No shortage of any kind has been reported in petrol pumps also. 6500 tonnes of commercial LPG was sold yesterday. 1300 awareness camps have been organized by oil marketing companies in the last four days. The companies have sold 10,005 cylinders. The aim of these awareness camps is to educate consumers about the availability of 5 kg cylinders. To provide information.”

Earlier, a high-level review meeting held with state officials under the chairmanship of Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNC) stressed on measures to ensure adequate LPG supply across the country. States were directed to prioritize LPG distribution, especially for domestic and essential needs, as well as maintain strict vigil against hoarding, misappropriation and spread of misinformation.

On reports related to Free Trade LPG (FTL) supply to migrant workers, States clarified that there is no disruption in LPG supply affecting migrants and the supply remains stable. The Secretary also informed that States may consider managing targeted distribution of 5 kg FTL LPG cylinders based on local requirements in coordination with Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).

According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, the LPG supply situation across the country is completely under control, and many indicators are pointing towards stable and better delivery. Around 6.75 lakh 5-kg free trade LPG cylinders have been sold across the country since March 23, 2026.

OMC companies of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) conducted around 550 awareness camps for 5 kg FTL cylinders in various states, in which more than 6,700 cylinders were sold. There has been no report of shortage of cylinders at any LPG distributorship centre.

There has been an increase of almost 97 percent in online LPG booking in the industry. In order to prevent tampering of cylinders, Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) based deliveries have increased by almost 90 percent.

The supply of domestic LPG cylinders remains normal, with more than 18 crore cylinders delivered to homes since March 1, 2026. Officials said the situation is under control and urged citizens not to pay heed to rumors or misinformation related to LPG shortage.
