The Union Home Ministry (MHA) on Sunday released the official list of people selected for the Padma Award 2026. Among India’s most prestigious civilian honours, the Padma Award recognizes individuals who have made a lasting impact on society in various fields including arts, literature, medicine, science, sports, social service and public life.
According to the Union Home Ministry, the President has approved a total of 131 Padma Awards for the year 2026. In this, two people have jointly received Padma awards, which are considered as one award. This time 5 people have been selected for Padma Vibhushan, 13 for Padma Bhushan and 113 for Padma Shri. Padma Vibhushan is awarded for exceptional and distinguished service, Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of high order and Padma Shri for distinguished service in any field. This year’s list also includes respected people from India and abroad.
Veteran actor Dharmendra and former Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achyutanandan has been awarded Padma Vibhushan (posthumously). Apart from this, famous violinist N. Rajam and senior jurist K. T. Thomas will also be honored with Padma Vibhushan.
Padma Bhushan recipients include famous singer Alka Yagnik, actor Mammootty, industrialist Uday Kotak, advertising veteran Piyush Pandey (posthumously) and tennis player Vijay Amritraj.
