Serious allegations have been made against the Pakistani army and government during a human rights conference in Geneva. Human rights activist Arif Aajakia has spoken of military atrocities in Balochistan, Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to reports, cases of forced disappearances and killings of civilians are increasing there. This information has come out on March 26, 2026, in which there is mention of the internal situation of Pakistan and the exploitation of minorities.

What is the status of minorities and human rights in Pakistan?

Arif Aajakia, executive director of the Asian Human Rights Forum, said in Geneva that the situation in Balochistan has become like a genocide. He alleged that the natural resources there are being exploited and the army is suppressing those who protest. Apart from this, the World Council of Churches (WCC) has expressed concern over the misuse of blasphemy laws in Pakistan. It has been reported that religious minorities, especially Christians, are being targeted by filing false cases under Section 295C.

Highlights of terrorism and tension with neighboring countries

Pakistan is currently facing challenges on many fronts. According to the report of Global Terrorism Index, Pakistan has come on top in the list of countries most affected by terrorism. Pakistan’s military conflict with Afghanistan also continues, in which air strikes are being carried out across the border. The US Commission on Religious Freedom (USCIRF) has also criticized the government in its 2025 report for discrimination and violence against religious minorities in Pakistan.
