New Delhi. A petition was filed in the High Court on charges of tampering with EVMs in Delhi University (DUSU) student union elections, which was heard today. The Delhi High Court has issued a notice to Delhi University and directed that EVMs, paper trails and related documents used in the election of the president should be kept safe. This petition has been filed by Josalin Nandita Chaudhary, the presidential candidate of the National Students Union of India (NSUI) and former DUSU President Raunak Khatri. The petitioners have demanded to cancel the election process and hold elections again under judicial surveillance.
The petition also said that disturbances were found in many colleges during voting. Advocate Mahinder Rupal on behalf of Delhi University dismissed the petitioner’s allegations, presenting arguments. He said that there was no tampering of any kind in EVMs. Let me tell you that there was a dispute between NSUI and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) supporters during voting on 18 September. The NSUI had alleged tampering of EVMs and also said to file a petition in the court after the results.
