PM Modi has expressed grief over the death of Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti and Senior Scholars Council chief Sheikh Abdulziz bin Abdullah bin Mohammad al-Al-Sheikh. Al-Sheikh died on Tuesday, he was 82 years old.
Expressing grief over the death of Al-Sheikh, PM Modi posted on the social media platform X and wrote, “The deep condolences to the sad demise of Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulziz bin Abdullah bin Mohammad al-Al-Sheikh. Our sensations and prayers are with the people there in this hour of grief.”
Who was Abdulaziz al-Sheikh
Abdulaziz al-Sheikh was a prominent Islamic scholar and religious leader of Saudi Arabia. He was the Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia (the main fatwa issuer). Let us tell you that this is the main post of the highest religious institution of the country. He belonged to the Al Alasheikh family who is one of the families playing an important role in the religious history of Saudi Arabia. His full name was Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Abdul Latif Al Alshekha.
