Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced a financial assistance of Rs 1,600 crore for Punjab, which is an additional Rs 12,000 crore allocated to the state. Apart from this, the second installment of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi will also be released in advance.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the need to adopt multidimensional approaches to help the entire region and its people. This will include measures such as the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, rebuilding homes, renovation of national highways, reconstruction of schools, providing relief through the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund and distributing mini kits for animals.
Realizing the important need to provide assistance to the agricultural community, especially the farmers who do not have electricity connections at present. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, according to the State Government’s Office, according to a specific proposal of the state government, the sacks which have filled silt or which have been swept away will provide assistance on project mode under the National Agricultural Development Scheme for the renewal of the sacks. Consultation and more crop guidelines per drop will facilitate assistance for micro irrigation.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Rural, the Punjab Government will provide financial assistance to the eligible families whose houses have been damaged due to floods, under the “Special Project” presented for reconstruction of houses in rural areas.
Government schools damaged by the recent floods in Punjab will get financial assistance under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan. The state government will have to provide all the necessary support information as per the guidelines. Under the water collection public participation program, recharge structures will be constructed on a large scale for water harvesting in Punjab. The main objective of this project is to repair the damaged recharge structures and to construct additional water harvesting structures. These efforts will increase rainwater harvesting and ensure long -term water stability.
The Central Government has also sent inter-ministers to visit Punjab to assess the loss limit and further assistance will be considered based on their detailed report.
