Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tribute to social reformer Shri Narayan Guru on his birth anniversary and appreciated his vision of equality, compassion and universal brotherhood, which will continue to inspire generations. Prime Minister Modi wrote, “On the birth anniversary of Shri Narayan Guru, we remember his vision and our social and spiritual land. Their teachings of brotherhood resonate widely.
Earlier today, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra paid tribute to the Saint and Social Reformer of Kerala Shri Narayan Guru. Priyanka Gandhi, who represented the Wayanad constituency at the Lok Sabha, wrote, “I pay my true tribute to a revered saint and social reformer of Kerala Shri Narayan Guru.”
The post reads, “His teachings on equality, justice and compassion will continue to inspire and guide us to a more progressive society.” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also paid homage to Shri Narayan Guru on his birth anniversary and described him as a great spiritual leader who fought against discrimination and devoted his life to building a similar society.
In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Humble tribute to Shri Narayan Guru on his birth anniversary. A great spiritual leader and fearless social reformer, he challenged discrimination and worked for a equitable, equal and inclusive society.” Shri Narayan Jayanti is a state festival of Kerala. It is celebrated on the day of Chathyam during Onam in Chingam month of the Malayalam calendar.
Sri Narayana Guru (20 August 1856 – 20 September 1928) was a saint, philosopher, spiritual leader and social reformer of Kerala, India. The Guru actively promoted education, cleanliness, God devotion, organization and agriculture. He encouraged industries as a means of economic freedom. He believed that with the atmosphere of right skill, hard work, knowledge, education and cleanliness, people can turn themselves into confident, self -respecting, fearless and moral and economically strong communities.
