Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the Union Budget presented in Parliament will empower the poor, increase farmers’ income and promote Make in India initiative. Addressing a gathering organized on the occasion of the 649th birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas in Jalandhar, Prime Minister Modi greeted the gathering and remembered the contribution of the revered saint.
He said, “I have full faith that with the blessings of Sant Ravidas ji, we will definitely achieve the goal of a developed India. This morning itself, the country’s budget has been presented in the Parliament. This budget will further empower the poor, farmers, youth and women. This budget will strengthen the villages. This budget will increase the income of farmers. This budget will promote self-reliant India and Make in India.”
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Union Budget 2026 in Parliament on Sunday. She said that Sant Ravidas showed the path of service. Prime Minister Modi said, “I bow to this land of Punjab. Today is the sacred occasion of the 649th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas Ji. It is a privilege for me to be present among you all on this auspicious occasion. Best wishes on Sant Ravidas Jayanti and Magh Purnima. I wish to serve as the MP of Kashi. We are fortunate that the teachings of Saint Ravidas Ji were revealed on the ghats of Kashi.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi visited Adampur Airport in Punjab and renamed the airport as ‘Shri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji Airport, Adampur’. Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated the terminal building at Halwara Airport in Ludhiana, Punjab. Prime Minister visited Punjab on the occasion of the 649th birth anniversary of Saint Guru Ravidas and Adampur Airport has been named in honor of the revered saint and social reformer, whose likeness, The teachings of compassion and human dignity continue to inspire the social ethos of India.
The terminal building at Halwara Airport, inaugurated by the Prime Minister, will establish a new gateway to the state, serving the industrial and agricultural areas in and around Ludhiana. Halwara, located in Ludhiana district, also has a strategically important Indian Air Force station.
The earlier airport at Ludhiana had a relatively short runway, which was suitable for small-sized aircraft. To improve connectivity and accommodate larger aircraft, a new civil enclave has been developed at Halwara, with a longer runway capable of handling aircraft such as A320, a release said.
The terminal includes many eco-friendly and energy-efficient features such as LED lighting, insulated roof, rainwater harvesting system, sewage and water treatment plants, and use of recycled water for landscaping. Its architectural design reflects the rich cultural heritage of Punjab, offering travelers a distinctive and regionally inspired travel experience.
