New Delhi. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India is being discussed all over the world. America, China and many other countries are eyeing the 23rd India-Russia summit meeting between Prime Minister Modi and Russian President Putin. Meanwhile, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, famous for his outspoken statements, has reacted to Putin’s visit. Discussing the years-old friendship between India and Russia, Tharoor said that the relations between the two countries are different from India’s relations with America and China. Tharoor also mentioned the Russian defense equipment used by the Indian Army during Operation Sindoor.
Tharoor said, Putin’s visit to India is very important. India and Russia have a deep relationship and have had it for a long time. In today’s turbulent world, where many relationships have become uncertain, it becomes necessary to strengthen our existing relationships. No one should be under the misconception that this will impact our relations with other countries, because India has the ability to have independent relations with different governments.
The Congress MP said, India is a nation that has always believed in sovereign autonomy. Our autonomy to determine our friendships, our partnerships and our national interests is embedded in our DNA. The importance of Russian friendship has been proven in recent years, especially in two areas. We have received a lot of oil and gas from Russia in recent years and the importance of defense imports from Russia was demonstrated once again during Operation Sindoor, when the S-400 saved us from several Pakistani missiles targeting our cities, including Delhi. Tharoor said the agreements reached during today’s meeting between Modi and Putin are a part of strengthening an important relationship.
