Justice Ashish Kumar Rai, a retired judge of the Calcutta High Court, who heads the inquiry committee constituted by the Bengal government to probe the chaos that broke out at the Salt Lake Stadium during Argentina football legend Lionel Messi’s ‘GOT India Tour’, visited the stadium on Sunday. He said that the committee will submit the report as soon as possible.

Speaking to reporters, Ashish Kumar Rai said, “I have not formed any opinion yet, I have just visited the spot. I believe this work should not be done in a hurry. We will submit our report as soon as possible.” Bidhannagar Police Commissioner Mukesh said more arrests would be made after the accused are identified.

Mukesh said, “We had sought 14-day remand of the main organiser, and we have got 14-day remand. We are identifying the people involved. We will make arrests… The question that arises is where were so many water bottles and how did they reach the stalls, because we had not allowed water bottles. We had made this clear during our social media live broadcast, so we had not given permission. Now we have to investigate it, And this is also part of the investigation as to how these bottles reached there and who brought them… We have registered 2 cases.”

He further said, “As far as refunds are concerned, a letter has been sent to Zomato stating that whatever money they have collected should not be given to the company with whom they had a contract.” Satadru Dutta, promoter and organizer of football star Lionel Messi’s GOAT India Tour 2025, was produced before the Bidhannagar court on Sunday, a day after his arrest in connection with the incident. He was sent to 14-day police custody. Has been sent.

Chaos descended on the Kolkata leg of Messi’s GOAT Tour at the Salt Lake Stadium on Saturday when fans who had bought expensive tickets at the stadium started throwing bottles and trying to break the gate between the stands after the Argentina great left the field early.

Angry fans resorted to vandalism at the Kolkata stadium, alleging poor event management and criticizing VIPs and politicians, saying they grabbed the football legend’s attention and time to such an extent that fans did not even get a glimpse of Messi.

The situation worsened when angry fans entered the ground and tried to damage the tents and goalposts. To bring the situation under control, police personnel dispersed the angry crowd from the field using mild force.

Meanwhile, it was a memorable day for the cricket and football fans present at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai as Lionel Messi reached the stadium as part of his ‘GOT India Tour’ 2025 and met Indian football legend Sunil Chhetri and the country’s ‘Bharat Ratna’ Sachin Tendulkar.
