There will be a government holiday in many states on Guru Tegh Bahadur Martyrdom Day on 24 November 2025. UP, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttarakhand have issued orders to keep all government and private schools and colleges closed. Banks will also remain closed in many states.

Complete news – in simple language

Schools, colleges and offices opened normally in November after the long holidays of Dussehra and Diwali. But now another big holiday is coming.

Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji will be celebrated across the country on 24 November 2025. Many state governments have declared an official holiday on this occasion.

UP and Delhi governments have issued clear orders that all government and private schools and colleges will remain closed on this day. Similar instructions have been issued in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Uttarakhand.

On this day, special religious programs, city kirtan and service activities will be organized in Gurudwaras.

Two days leave for students

This time the holiday is falling on Monday. i.e

In this way students will not have to go to school for two consecutive days.

On this day, all government departments, courts, municipal corporations, and local bodies’ offices will also remain closed.

Banks will also remain closed in many states

According to RBI’s 2025 holiday calendar, banking services will remain closed in many states on November 24.

In which states banks will remain closed?

Punjab

Haryana

Delhi

Chandigarh

Jammu and Kashmir

Cash transactions, check clearance and all offline services will remain closed in these states.

Customers have been advised to complete necessary banking work by November 22.

ATM and online banking will continue as before.
Banks will reopen normally from November 25.
