At least five people, including two-year-old children, were killed and 10 others were seriously injured in a face-to-face collision of a van and Uttar Pradesh Transport Corporation (Roadways) bus coming from opposite direction near Oyal town of Kheri city police station area of Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh. Police gave this information.
According to the police, two of the dead have been identified as Van driver Sunil (25), resident of Pipariya village in Sadar Kotwali area and two -year -old children Sarfaraz, resident of Dateli village of Mitauli police station area. Efforts are on to identify the other three dead.
Police said that seven of the 10 injured have been sent to Lucknow after first aid in view of their critical condition, while the rest is being treated at the district hospital in Oil.
Kheri District Magistrate (DM) Durga Shakti Nagpal and Superintendent of Police (SP) Sankalp Sharma reached Oil Hospital and met the injured in the accident. He consoled the mournful families of the dead and the injured and assured them of all possible help from the administration.
