Separate orders will be issued for Assam
On non-inclusion of Assam in the second phase of SIR, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that there are separate provisions for Assam in the Citizenship Act of India. Under the supervision of the Supreme Court, the work of citizenship verification is nearing completion. In such a situation, the SIR order of June 24 was for the entire country. It is not applicable to Assam, hence SIR orders for Assam will be issued separately.
