7th Pay Commission: Central government employees can get a good news by the end of March. According to media reports, the Government of India may announce an increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) this month. Due to which there will be a big jump in their salary. More than one crore central employees and pensioners will be benefited by the announcement made by the government till March 31.
The government can announce a 3 percent increase in the dearness allowance of central government employees in the month of March. Thus the existing DA of 31 per cent will increase to 34 per cent. According to media reports, the salary of the employees will be increased up to 90 thousand. Reports related to hike in dearness allowance have gained further momentum after the AICPI data released in December.
According to JCM Secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra, central employees should get money in proportion to inflation. Though the government is yet to clarify the status of pending 18 months DA arrears, the 3% DA hike will give much-needed relief to government employees. If the basic salary of an employee is 30 thousand rupees per month. Then his salary will increase by Rs 900 per month. There will be a direct increase of Rs 10,800 in his gross salary on an annual basis. There will be an increase of Rs 7500 in the salary of cabinet secretary level officers.
According to the report, employees earning the maximum pay band of Rs 2.5 lakh will get benefits of up to Rs 90,000 on an annual basis. The Union Cabinet had in June 2017 approved the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission with 34 amendments. The new pay scales provided from the basic pay have been increased from Rs 7,000 per month to Rs 18,000. The starting salary for Class 1 officers was Rs 56,100. The highest level has increased from Rs 90 thousand to Rs 2.5 lakh.
