New Delhi. Monday i.e. tomorrow is an important day for Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal as well as his Aam Aadmi Party. Arvind Kejriwal had filed an application in the Delhi High Court against his arrest and ED remand. Delhi High Court had rejected Arvind Kejriwal’s application. Arvind Kejriwal has challenged this decision of Delhi High Court in the Supreme Court through an application. The Supreme Court is going to hear this application of Arvind Kejriwal on Monday.
Delhi High Court, while rejecting the application for arrest and remand of Arvind Kejriwal, had said that the court and law have nothing to do with politics. Justice Swarnakanta Sharma of Delhi High Court had also said in her decision that ED’s evidence against Arvind Kejriwal seems strong. Delhi High Court had also said in its decision that Arvind Kejriwal cannot be given any special concession because he is the CM of Delhi. Delhi High Court had also said that Arvind Kejriwal was arrested as per the rules. This decision of Delhi High Court had given a big blow to Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party. Now everyone’s eyes are on whether Arvind Kejriwal gets relief from the Supreme Court or not.
ED has described Arvind Kejriwal as the kingpin of the liquor scam. ED had arrested Arvind Kejriwal on March 21 in the liquor scam case. After sending Kejriwal on ED remand twice, Rouse Avenue Court sent him to Tihar Jail in judicial custody till April 15. ED says money trail and statements of witnesses in the liquor scam have revealed that out of the amount of Rs 100 crore, Aam Aadmi Party spent Rs 45 crore in the Goa assembly elections. ED has described Aam Aadmi Party as a company under Section 70 of the PMLA Act. In such a situation, if ED now takes action against Kejriwal’s party, then it may again give a big blow to Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party in the liquor scam case. However, whether ED will take this step or not will be known only after the decision of the Supreme Court.
