There are currently 4 vacancies in the Parliamentary Board of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Parliamentary Board of the BJP is the parliamentary board that is responsible for comprehensive policy making in the Parliament and the state legislatures. Surprisingly, there are four vacancies in the total 11-member panel. The deaths of Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj, the promotion of Venkaiah Naidu as Vice President and the retirement of Thaawarchand Gehlot as leader of the Rajya Sabha led to vacancies that have not been filled.
The remaining seven members include PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, President JP Nadda, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Organization General Secretary BL Santosh. Formal physical meetings may have taken place after COVID, instead the usual practice is only for exchange of views between three big leaders PM Modi, Home Minister Shah and Speaker JP Nadda. The decision is communicated to other members over the phone.
Although most members rarely get time to speak in meetings, a position on the board is highly coveted. Yogi Adityanath’s supporters had long expected that he would soon join the prestigious board. But the UP CM despite his resounding victory is still waiting.
The vacancies in the BJP Parliamentary Board can be filled soon and many leaders are in the race to join the BJP Parliamentary Board. These include Union Ministers Bhupendra Yadav, Piyush Goyal and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. At the same time, after the retirement of Thaawarchand Gehlot, any one Dalit leader can be included in the BJP Parliamentary Board.
In the recently concluded assembly elections of five states, BJP has won in 4 states and this includes Uttar Pradesh. In Uttar Pradesh, BJP contested the elections under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and BJP got a big victory. With the big victory of BJP in UP, the stature of CM Yogi has also increased a lot in the party. Obviously, BJP will use CM Yogi fully at the national level.
