New Delhi, Aug 15 (IANS) | Two people, including a woman, were killed and six were seriously injured in a fire that broke out at a four-storey hotel in Delhi’s Dwarka area on Sunday. According to a senior fire brigade official, the fire broke out at around 7.30 am on the ground floor of ‘Shri Krishna Hotel’ located in the south-west area of ​​Dwarka.

Delhi Fire Service director Atul Garg said, “The fire broke out in the basement of the hotel, which is a four-storey building and is spread over 80 square yards. Two badly burnt bodies have been recovered, while six more people also Got burnt.” Garg told IANS that three out of the six people suffered serious burns, one of whom has been admitted to Safdarjung Hospital, while two have been admitted to Ayushmann Hospital.

Delhi Police said the building is owned by Siddharth and Karuna of Ranchi, Jharkhand, but the hotel was being run by Mr. Krishna Sunil Gupta, who further handed it over to Harshit of Dashrath Puri. A senior police officer said, “When the police reached the spot, none of the hotel staff was there. Following this, the FSL and crime team were also called to the spot. After the fire was doused, two bodies, including a woman, were on the stairs. Both the bodies were shifted to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital.”

Police said preliminary investigation has revealed that the same hotel has been tried twice earlier under relevant sections of the Delhi Police Act and under section 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) of the Indian Penal Code. A case was also registered. He said that eight fire tenders reached the spot to douse the fire. The official further said that the department received information about the fire incident at around 7.30 am on Sunday and eight fire tenders were sent to the spot.
