According to UP ATS, confidential information was received that two persons from district Azamgarh along with their other associates are involved in manufacturing and smuggling of illegal weapons. The information was developed through physical and electronic surveillance. It came to be known that Aftab Alam son Firoz Alam resident of Falahnagar, Bilariaganj district of police station Azamgarh and Mainuddin Sheikh son of Sammu Ahmed resident of village and post Patila Gauspur, police station Bilariaganj, district Azamgarh, manufacturing illegal weapons and selling them illegally by obtaining cartridges from gun house. and involved in smuggling. After this, UP ATS took joint action with Azamgarh Police and arrested both of them.
Smuggling used to happen in different areas of Purvanchal
During interrogation, it was revealed that Aftab Alam has been jailed twice in the past and is involved in illegal arms manufacturing and smuggling for the past several years. This was to smuggle illegal arms and cartridges etc. from Mainuddin Sheikh. Mainuddin Shaikh used to smuggle illegal arms and cartridges from Gun House in Azamgarh for a long time and had set up a factory to make arms on his agricultural land in Ibrahimpur village near Kudhhi Dhala in Devara area of district Azamgarh. Due to the flood, he was currently operating this factory from his house. During interrogation it was also revealed that the weapons manufactured in the factory were smuggled to different areas of Purvanchal through Aftab Alam and the operator of Qazi Gun House Asifganj Pandey Bazar Road Azamgarh, Syed Qazi Arshad. Both of them used to get the cartridges illegally from the gun house and supply them as per the demand. The Nepal, Pakistan and Dubai connections of the accused have also been received.
