What is Article 14?
Section 144 CRPC is installed. It is used to maintain peace and avoid emergency. Where Section 144 is applicable, three or more people cannot gather together at a time. Section 144 is implemented in a particular area or in the entire district after the permission of high officials of the district like District Magistrate or Superintendent of Police.
The reason for the implementation of Section 144 has also been given the reason why this section is being imposed. It has also been told how long it will remain in force. Sometimes it is also given a discount of a few hours a day. The police may immediately detain or arrest the accused concerned for violating the restrictions imposed under Section 144.
Section 144 cannot be imposed for more than 2 months. However, under special circumstances the state government can extend it for a maximum of 6 months. The local administration itself decides which things have to be banned and not on whom.
