Food to reduce the risk of Thyroid Disease: Nowadays, due to poor lifestyle and lack of attention to food, most of the people are troubled by the problem of thyroid. The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland located in the neck. This gland has a special contribution in the metabolic process of the body. There are two types of thyroid – hyperthyroid and hypothyroid. In hyperthyroidism, too much thyroid hormone is produced. Whereas in hypothyroidism there is less production of hormones. People with hypothyroidism can experience many symptoms such as fatigue, hair loss, weight gain, chills and feeling low. Thyroid can be controlled by taking a good diet. In such a situation, today we know what are the things that a person should not eat if there is a thyroid problem.
What should not be eaten in thyroid
Soybean-
Soybeans and foods containing soy may increase the risk of hypothyroidism. Soybeans contain phytoestrogens that can affect the function of enzymes that produce thyroid hormones.
Vegetables like broccoli-cauliflower-
Raw or undercooked green leafy vegetables such as broccoli, spinach, cauliflower have anti-thyroid and goitrogenic properties. Which can be harmful in thyroid. Actually, all these cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage) are full of fiber and other nutrients. Despite this, if there is a deficiency of iodine, they can reduce the production of thyroid hormones.
caffeinated drinks
If you have thyroid problems, you should not eat and drink things that contain caffeine. They also decrease the effect of the medicine by increasing your thyroid gland.
Sweet-
Do not consume too much sugar if you have thyroid problem. Sugar will increase your weight by affecting your digestion process and will make thyroid gland levels out of control.
gluten food-
People suffering from hypothyroidism should reduce their intake of gluten. Gluten is a protein found in processed foods made from wheat, barley, rye and other grains. If a person has celiac disease, this gluten can cause problems in the small intestine and interfere with the absorption of thyroid hormone replacement medications.
Processed foods-
Processed or junk foods are high in sodium which can harm you. Sodium hypothyroidism and thyroid deficiency both have a bad effect on the health of the patients.
