Chennai, June 21 (IANS). Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay will celebrate his 52nd birthday on Monday. This will be his first birthday after becoming the Chief Minister, regarding which a lot of enthusiasm is being seen among his supporters and party workers across the state. Preparations for the celebration have already started in many districts.
Vijay, who has previously been one of the most popular actors of Tamil cinema, entered politics and founded his party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) on 2 February 2024, after which his political journey progressed rapidly and created a new stir in the politics of Tamil Nadu.
The party soon held two major conferences in Vikravandi and Madurai, which attracted huge crowds and attracted national attention. These events reflected Vijay’s growing political clout and the emerging influence of TVK.
As Vijay expanded the party’s sphere of influence, he recruited social reformer Periyar EV Ramasamy, former Chief Minister K. Kamaraj, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, freedom fighter Rani Velu Nachiyar and social activist Anjalai Ammal were identified as ideological inspirations for the movement.
According to the report, within just two years TVK contested elections without any major political alliance and entered the Tamil Nadu Assembly. Campaigning with the “Whistle” election symbol, Vijay communicated directly with the public and appealed for opportunities to serve.
His message became popular, especially among the youth, leading to widespread support for the party and ultimately a decisive mandate to form the government.
Vijay took oath as chief minister on May 10 and recently completed the first month of his tenure.
During the Assembly session on Monday, MLAs from both the ruling party and the opposition are likely to wish him in the House on his birthday. There is also discussion in political circles that he may make some new policy announcement on this occasion.
On the occasion of the birthday, TVK’s Tamil Nadu units have planned special pujas at temples, food donation programmes, welfare assistance and various public service activities. The party has directed district level leaders to organize programs focused on community service, so that the occasion can be celebrated as service-based events.
