New Delhi, March 18 (IANS). Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, in an informal meeting on Wednesday interacted with his fellow MPs whose suspension has been revoked recently. During this, he chatted with him over tea and coffee and discussed the entire matter in detail.
The meeting came a day after the suspension of eight Congress MPs was withdrawn following a motion by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju in the Lok Sabha. Earlier, the Congress leadership had expressed regret over the uproar during the budget session, after which this decision was taken.
It is being told that in this meeting, Rahul Gandhi took information from all the MPs about the incidents that happened during his suspension. The MPs also told him in detail what happened in the House during that time and what kind of situation was created.
The MPs whose suspension has been lifted include Amarinder Singh Raja Waring, Manickam Tagore, Gurjit Singh Aujla, Hibi Eden, C Kiran Kumar Reddy, Prashant Yadaorao Padole, S. Venkatesh and Dean Kuriakose. All these MPs were suspended on charges of creating ruckus during the budget session on 3 February. The allegation was that he disrupted the proceedings of the House and threw papers towards the Speaker.
After the suspension was lifted, Congress MPs welcomed the decision and thanked the party leadership as well as the Speaker. However, he also made it clear that the role of the opposition is very important in democracy and they will continue to raise public issues.
