The BJP leader informed that after the complaint from his side, the police sent a notice to Sahar Sheikh and sought her reply. During my follow-up visit today, Mumbra Police informed me about the apology in a written reply.
In this entire matter, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya had given a written complaint at Mumbra Police Station that if Sahar Sheikh does not apologize, then strict legal action should be taken against her.
The letter sent by Mumbra Police to Kirit Somaiya reads, “When AIMIM party councilor Sahar Yunus Shaikh was interrogated, she gave a written apology on Friday. In this apology, she has written that in a meeting on January 18, she had given a speech that ‘We will make Mumbra green.’ He had said these words about the flag and symbol of his party. His intention was not to hurt anyone’s sentiments or spoil the atmosphere. We live for the tricolor and die for the tricolor. Nevertheless, if his statement has hurt anyone’s sentiments, I have written and apologized publicly.”
Mumbra Police said that Sahar Yunus Shaikh was given notice under section 168 of IPC after the meeting. He was also called to Mumbra police station and his statement was recorded.
