Bhubaneswar, March 6 (IANS). Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday met senior leaders of BJP’s Odisha unit at the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar and discussed several issues including preparations for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Odisha BJP President and Rajya Sabha candidate Manmohan Samal, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukesh Mahaling, Rajya Sabha candidate Sujit Kumar, BJP supported independent candidate and hotel owner Dilip Ray and BJP MP Sambit Patra along with many other senior leaders of the state unit attended the meeting.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Odisha BJP President Samal said that the conversation with the Home Minister was mainly focused on organizational matters and the entire political situation of the state.
He said that Home Minister Shah discussed the current political and administrative situation in Odisha with party leaders and MLAs, including developments related to the functioning of the government. Samal said that Amit Shah exchanged views with party leaders on the functioning of the organization in Odisha and took feedback from them on various political and organizational matters.
He said the leadership also discussed strengthening the organization and preparations for the upcoming Panchayat elections in the state. However, the BJP state president clarified that Home Minister Shah did not discuss the strategy of Rajya Sabha elections during the meeting with the candidates.
Meanwhile, BJP MP Balbhadra Majhi said that the Union Home Minister discussed in detail the issues related to the state, the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, strengthening the organization and overall development of Odisha. Majhi also said that Shah asked the BJP MLAs to ensure the victory of the party’s fourth candidate Dilip Ray in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
He further said that the Union Home Minister assured full support from the Central Government for the development of Odisha and encouraged the party leaders to work together to take the state forward.
