Urging party workers to work hard for the upcoming Assam elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the biggest honor of his life is to be a BJP worker.
Addressing a public meeting in Guwahati, Prime Minister Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress, accusing it of pursuing politics of “vote bank and appeasement”.
Prime Minister Modi said that whatever heights the BJP has reached, the credit for it goes to its workers.
He said, “I proudly say that if there is any biggest qualification in my life, it is that Narendra Modi is a BJP worker. As a BJP worker, I bow and salute the strength of our workers and organization in Assam. I also pay countless obeisances to Maa Adi Shakti and Maa Kamakhya.”
He said that workers are the life force of BJP and it is only through their efforts that the party moves forward.
He said, “We have full faith in the organization. That is why it is a privilege for us to honor so many workers. We are all united by the same mantra, and that mantra is: Bharat Mata ki Jai.”
The Prime Minister accused the Congress of “neglecting” the Northeast during its rule and said the BJP-led NDA government considers the region as “Ashtalakshmi”.
He said, “The Union Budget was presented a few days ago. This is my first visit to the Northeast after the Budget. The Northeast, neglected by the Congress, is our priority and we are dedicated to its development. For us, the Northeast is our Ashtalakshmi. We have paid special attention to making the Northeast economically self-reliant.”
He further said, “Congress refuses to even accept India as a nation. Those who do not show even the slightest respect for Mother India can never work for the welfare of the country.”
The Prime Minister said that earlier whenever the North-East was mentioned, people were reminded of the poor infrastructure.
He said, “And today such highways are being built here where not only vehicles can move, but planes can also land. It is a proud moment. It shows the changing spirit of Assam.”
Prime Minister Modi also paid tribute to the security personnel who lost their lives in the Pulwama terror attack.
He said, “Today is the anniversary of the Pulwama attack. I salute those brave sons of Mother India who lost their lives in this attack. The whole world saw the way India punished the terrorists after this terrorist attack. Some people are still trembling with that shock. You have seen the strength of India in Operation Sindoor.”
