Kolkata, April 7 (IANS). Amidst the two-phase assembly elections in West Bengal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi can attend seven election programs starting from April 9 this week.
A member of the state committee of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal said, “As per the tentative schedule of Prime Minister Modi decided so far, on April 9, he can address three big election rallies one after the other in Asansol in West Burdwan district, Suri in Birbhum district and Haldia in East Midnapore district.”
The state committee member said that on April 11, Prime Minister Modi is going to address three election rallies at Jangipur in Murshidabad district, Katwa in East Burdwan district and Balurghat in South Dinajpur district.
He said, “Prime Minister Modi will spend the night in Siliguri in Darjeeling district on April 11. The next day, i.e. on April 12, he is going to participate in a road show in Siliguri city.”
Earlier this month on April 5, the Prime Minister had launched his election campaign in the state, where he addressed a large rally in Cooch Behar town in Cooch Behar district.
The state committee member said that as per the plan, Prime Minister Modi is going to participate in a total of 14 election programs, which include his rallies and road shows.
His last program will be held in Bhawanipur Assembly constituency of South Kolkata, where Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari is facing the current Trinamool Congress MLA and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The Prime Minister’s program in Bhawanipur is likely to be a mixed form of rally and road show.
Two-phase assembly elections will be held in West Bengal on April 23 and April 29. Voting will be held for 152 assembly seats in the first phase, and elections will be held for the remaining 142 seats in the second phase. The results will be declared on May 4.
