Gayaji, November 11 (IANS). Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi made a special appeal to the voters in Gayaji on Tuesday amid the second phase of voting in Bihar. He said that the way the people of Bihar had come out to vote enthusiastically in the first phase, they should vote in the second phase with the same enthusiasm and unity so that the pace of development in the state continues.
Manjhi told IANS, “My request to the people of Bihar is that due to the way the double engine government is working here, all the records of development are being broken today. Good work is being done in every field, be it construction of roads, electricity or schemes for the welfare of the poor. Therefore, people should support NDA to maintain this progress.”
He cautioned the public and said that if we make a mistake, Bihar’s development journey will be derailed. All the work will remain incomplete and we will again reach the same place from where we started.
Manjhi also said that this time the election is not just about forming the government but also about securing the future of Bihar. He said that the rapid progress that Bihar has made in the last few years has become an example for the entire country.
Taking a dig at the opposition, Manjhi said, “Other people are not going to do anything for Bihar. All the development work has been done under the NDA government. Those who are now making big promises, should first tell what they had done during their tenure.”
He said that due to the double engine government, today there is electricity in every village, roads are being built and the poor are getting direct benefits of the schemes. Bihar has now progressed a lot since the old days, but this pace can be maintained only if the public votes wisely.
Manjhi also made a special appeal to women, youth and senior citizens to take active participation in this festival of democracy and go to vote.
The second phase of voting is going on in many districts of Bihar including Gayaji. According to the Election Commission, till 9 am, 14.55 percent voting has taken place, which is slightly more than the voting percentage of the first phase.
