Once again the rhetoric has intensified in the politics of Bihar. Former Deputy Chief Minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has directly targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP. Addressing a public meeting, Tejashwi said, “Bihar will not lie, it will ask for employment.” As soon as this statement came, there was a new stir in the politics of the state.
Tejashwi Yadav said that BJP has given only a bunch of false promises to Bihar. He claimed that even in the 2020 assembly elections, promises were made to the public about employment, development and setting up industries, but till date no concrete steps have been taken. Tejashwi said that instead of giving unemployment allowance to the youth, the BJP government has given the gift of inflation and corruption.
The RJD leader took a jibe at PM Modi and said, “The Prime Minister had promised to provide 2 crore jobs every year, but now he avoids answering questions.” He said that lakhs of youth of Bihar are wandering from door to door in search of jobs, while the government is busy only in speeches and events.
Tejashwi Yadav also said in his speech that the “double engine” of BJP has derailed the development of Bihar. He said the BJP is only entangling people in the politics of religion and caste, while the real issues—employment, education and health—are completely marginalised. He appealed to the public that this time they should not get trapped in false slogans and demand answers for the future of their children.
This statement of Tejashwi Yadav has become increasingly viral on social media. “#BiharMaangeRozgaar” is trending on Twitter and Facebook, where users supported Tejashwi’s statement and wrote that Bihar needs action, not speeches.
Political analysts believe that Tejashwi Yadav is once again trying to bring unemployment and youth issues to the center stage, so that BJP can be directly challenged in the upcoming elections. Issues of employment and migration have always been important topics of electoral politics in Bihar, and this time Tejashwi is adopting the strategy to win the hearts of the people with the help of these issues.
