Pradyut Bordoloi tendered his resignation from the Congress on Tuesday and formally joined the BJP on Wednesday in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma himself will contest from Jalukbari constituency; This is his traditional seat, where he has consistently shown strong electoral performance.

Many sitting MLAs have been made candidates again in this list, along with many new and young faces have also been included. Women and candidates from tribal areas have also been given significant representation. The extensive list includes names like Ashwini Roy Sarkar (Golakganj), Uttam Prasad (Dhubri), Madhavi Das (Birsingh Jarua), and Bijay Malakar (Ramakrishna Nagar).
Central Election Committee finalized the list in Delhi
Today, on March 19, 2026, the party’s Central Election Committee met in Delhi and formally approved the names of 88 candidates. The party said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah and other members of the committee attended the meeting of the Central Election Committee. The list contains the constituency number, assembly constituency name and full name of the candidate for each seat.
