New Delhi, July 4 (IANS). BJP MP Tarun Chugh said that there are internal differences going on in the Congress party, due to which it is becoming weak. The party may end very soon.
Speaking to news agency IANS, MP Tarun Chugh said that the Congress party is no longer seen as a strong national party, but as a structure divided into various factions, regional groups and on caste lines. The role of grassroots workers is decreasing in Congress and the politics of show of power between different groups is increasing.
Tarun Chugh also alleged that Scheduled Caste (SC) leaders and workers are not being given the expected treatment within the party, leading to dissatisfaction. Citing a statement of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, he said that internal disagreement and resentment is continuously increasing in the Congress.
Chugh referred to a recent action in which the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad lauded the arrest of terrorists linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country has adopted a policy of “zero tolerance” against terrorism and security agencies are continuously taking action against terrorist networks.
He said that there have been allegations of being soft towards terrorism during the previous governments, whereas a tough stance has been adopted in the current government. According to him, people working against the security of the country are either in jail or have been killed.
Commenting on the opposition alliance Indi Alliance, he said that raising questions on the electoral process and democratic institutions is like weakening the system. In particular, he termed the questions raised on the impartiality of the Election Commission as wrong and said that such allegations without concrete evidence damage the credibility of democratic institutions.
Emphasizing on the accuracy and transparency of the voter list, he said that corrective steps have been taken from time to time regarding fake, double and illegal voters.
He appealed to all political parties to maintain faith in democratic institutions and avoid politics that misleads the public.
