Jammu, July 6 (IANS). After becoming the national president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Nitin Naveen visited Jammu and Kashmir for the first time on Monday. There was a lot of enthusiasm among the party workers regarding his two-day visit. Along with participating in the programs organized on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee, he will also hold meetings with party officials, public representatives and workers at various levels of the organization. During this, the strategy for the upcoming Panchayat and local body elections will also be discussed.
Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Satpal Sharma said that this is Nitin Naveen’s first visit to Jammu after becoming the national president. There is an atmosphere of enthusiasm regarding this at every level in the organization. The venue was completely filled with workers, where workers from state level to booth level were invited. Every year BJP celebrates fortnight from the martyrdom day of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee till his birth anniversary. In this sequence, the National President has reached Jammu to participate in the programs organized and for organizational meetings. The party is fully prepared for the upcoming Panchayat and local body elections. After this tour the election campaign will get new momentum.
Giving information about the program of the National President, he said that on Tuesday, separate meetings will be organized with District Development Council (DDC) members, Block Development Council (BDC) members, former MLAs, former Legislative Council members, current MLAs and MPs, in which organization expansion and political strategy will be discussed.
BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa described Nitin Naveen’s visit as important for the organization and said that even at a young age he has long political experience. His journey from a worker to an administrator makes him a strong organizational leader. The arrival of the National President on the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee in the temple city of Jammu is a matter of pride and good fortune for the workers. Describing Dr. Mukherjee as a great personality who made supreme sacrifice for the unity and integrity of India and Jammu and Kashmir, he said that this occasion has further increased the enthusiasm of the workers.
Former Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Nirmal Singh said that it is a matter of happiness for the BJP that the national president has given priority to Jammu and Kashmir during his initial visits. Staying in Jammu and Kashmir for two days, the National President will meet workers of every level of the organization and will also assess the current political situation in the state.
He alleged that parties like National Conference and PDP are trying to glorify separatism, terrorism and jihadi thinking. At such a time, the visit of the National President and organizational meetings hold special importance. On the question regarding glorification of separatist leaders and the action taken on it, Nirmal Singh said that the action taken by the Lieutenant Governor is welcome. Action will also be taken against other people involved in this case and they will be sent to jail under the law. BJP has a policy of ‘zero tolerance’ towards terrorism and separatism. Thousands of people have lost their lives in separatist and terrorist violence in Jammu and Kashmir during the last several decades, hence promoting any such ideology or activity cannot be acceptable.
Nirmal Singh further said that after the merger of Jammu and Kashmir with India on 26 October 1947 by Maharaja Hari Singh, promoting any thinking that questions the unity and integrity of the state is against the national interest and the BJP will continue to oppose it at all levels.
