Chandigarh, December 18 (IANS). Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini addressed the resolution presented in the Assembly on the occasion of the 350th martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. He described the occasion as a historic and honorable day when the entire state remembered the sacrifices of its courageous and devout Gurus.
The Chief Minister said, “Guruji never accepted to bow before unrighteousness and injustice. His sacrifice inspired us to fight for religion, freedom and humanity.”
The Chief Minister also said that when the discussion on this resolution had started, former Chief Minister Hooda had talked about passing it unanimously. After this, an all-party meeting was held, in which representatives of all political parties gave important suggestions to celebrate the Martyrdom Year in a grand manner.
He said that during this period, it was decided to let the Gurdwara Management Committee play a leading role in Haryana and the role of the government was supportive.
The Chief Minister further said, “The sufferings and tortures that the countrymen faced at the time of the sacrifice of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji were removed by our Gurus through their sacrifice.” He also mentioned that yatras were organized in 20 districts of the state, with lakhs of devotees gathering at Kurukshetra to remember the martyrdom of Guru Ji.
The Chief Minister said that the Prime Minister had taken time out from the Ayodhya program and participated in Kurukshetra. This step of the Prime Minister was seen as a respect for the martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The Chief Minister also suggested sending a letter of thanks to the Prime Minister, which was passed unanimously by the Assembly.
In the end, the Chief Minister described the issue as important and historical and said that the state government will always remain committed to following the teachings of Guru Sahiban.
Along with this, Chief Minister Naib Saini informed in the Assembly that the government is considering the situation of flood affected areas very seriously. He himself visited the affected areas and talked to the farmers.
Regarding removal of sand accumulated in fields due to floods, the government has deployed teams to ensure that if too much sand has accumulated in any field, it will be allowed to be removed. “However, it was found that the accumulation of sand was not much,” he said.
