New Delhi, March 25 (IANS). There was a huge uproar in the Delhi Assembly when Delhi Government Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma made serious allegations regarding the expenses incurred at the residence of former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Presenting a long list in the House, he said that very expensive and luxurious items have been installed in this house like ‘Sheeshmahal’.
Pravesh Verma claimed that everything from the gym equipment installed in the Chief Minister’s residence to furniture and electronic items is very expensive. He said that the cost of a treadmill was around Rs 14 lakh and a separate trainer was also paid for it. Apart from this, about Rs 3 lakh was spent on dumbbell sets.
He told that a big 88 inch TV was installed in the house. Also, a total of Rs 27 lakh was spent on three TVs. Apart from this, facilities like fireplace, sofa, mini bar and entrance light were also installed.
Referring to the expense of furniture, Pravesh Verma said that two tenders were held for the sofa set. One for Rs 35 lakh and the other for Rs 1.5 lakh. 76 tables were installed in the house, on which approximately Rs 1 crore 5 lakh was spent. Rs 40 lakh was spent on 8 beds, while Rs 60 lakh was spent on chairs and Rs 50 lakh was spent on consoles.
He told that curtains worth Rs 1.5 crore were installed in the house. Apart from this, carpets and small puffies (small stools kept with the sofa) worth Rs 60 lakh were also purchased.
Pravesh Verma further said that a big dining table was installed, which can seat 28 people and which costs Rs 14 lakh. Apart from this, spin bike worth Rs 1 lakh, Fusion Crest machine worth Rs 3 lakh and body solid equipment worth Rs 6 lakh were installed in the gym.
He said that electrical items worth about Rs 12 lakh and ceiling decorative fittings worth Rs 14 lakh were installed in the house.
He also claimed that a total of 11 TVs were installed in the house, on which Rs 1.5 crore was spent. Also expensive equipment like barbeque unit, ceiling speakers, camera, amplifier and pre-amplifier were also installed. He said that 50 air conditioners were installed and an inverter system worth Rs 5 lakh was also installed.
Pravesh Verma alleged that the tenders and estimates for all these works were prepared and passed in a single day.
He said that a huge robbery has been done on the money of the people of Delhi. The Delhi government minister also alleged that threatening emails were being sent to disrupt the budget session.
