Mumbai, July 3 (IANS). Ashish Shelar, minister in-charge of the General Administration Department in the Maharashtra government, announced in the Assembly on Friday that a committee comprising members of both the Houses of the Maharashtra Legislature will be constituted to streamline transfers of government employees, speedy disposal of government files and increase transparency in administrative work.
Senior MLA Sudhir Mungantiwar introduced the Maharashtra Government Employees Transfer Regulation and Prevention of Delay in Disposal of Government Business (Amendment) Bill, 2025 (Maharashtra Assembly Bill No. 16, 2025) in the Assembly.
While presenting the bill, Mungantiwar suggested that transfers of government employees should be made within the prescribed time limit. He also said that Artificial Intelligence (AI) should be used to make the transfer process more fair and effective.
He also demanded setting up a committee to study the transfer process and make it more systematic.
Apart from this, Mungantiwar stressed on the need to expedite the disposal of files pending in the Ministry (Ministry Building). He suggested that the files pending in the offices of ministers should be disposed of within a maximum of 45 days.
Responding to the discussion, Minister Ashish Shelar said that with the aim of bringing transparency in the transfers of government employees, the state government had made a law in the year 2005, in which amendments have also been made from time to time.
He informed that confidential report system has been implemented to evaluate the performance of government employees.
Referring to the efforts being made by the government towards modernization of administration, Shelar said that the government has already started using AI to increase efficiency, transparency and speed of work.
He said that a committee comprising members of both the Houses of the Legislature would be constituted to make the transfer process more transparent and ensure speedy disposal of files. This committee will study the entire matter and submit its recommendations to the government.
