Highlighting India’s strong growth momentum, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday described the start of the quarter as “extremely positive” and called a confident India “a beacon of hope for the world today”.
Addressing the media ahead of the Budget Session 2026, he said that India has emerged as the center of global attention.
He noted that earlier this quarter India and the European Union signed a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which the Prime Minister described as a symbol of “the bright future of Indian youth and promising directions ahead.”
Prime Minister Modi said, the beginning of this quarter has been very positive. Full of confidence, India has emerged as a ray of hope for the world today. It has also become a center of attraction. Earlier this quarter, India and the European Union signed a free trade agreement. This is proof of how bright is the future of India in the times to come, how bright is the future of the Indian youth.”
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, calling it “free trade for an ambitious India, an ambitious youth and a self-reliant India”.
He expressed confidence that Indian manufacturers will take advantage of this opportunity to strengthen their capabilities and said that this free trade agreement is an important step towards a confident, competitive and productive India.
The Prime Minister said, “This free trade is for an ambitious India, an aspirational youth and a self-reliant India. I am confident that India’s manufacturers, in particular, will take advantage of this opportunity to enhance their capabilities. I am confident that this is a big step towards a confident, competitive and productive India.”
The Prime Minister said that the Union Budget will reflect the government’s reform agenda.
He said, “The country’s focus is naturally on the Budget. But the hallmark of this government has been reform, implementation and transformation. Now we have taken the ‘Sudar Express’ forward at full speed. I express my gratitude to all the MPs for their positive contribution in accelerating this ‘Sudar Express’. As a result, the ‘Sudar Express’ is gaining momentum.”
Prime Minister Modi emphasized that all the decisions of the government are human-centric and will remain so in future also.
He further said, “The country is overcoming long pending problems and is moving forward confidently on the path of long-term solutions. The progress of the country is our goal in all our decisions. But all our decisions are human-centric, our role and plans are human-centric. We will combat technology, we will adapt to technology, we will accept the potential of technology. But at the same time we will not weaken the human-centric system. Understanding the importance of sensitivity, in partnership with technology We will move forward.”
Considering that a quarter of the 21st century has passed, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of the next 25 years towards achieving the goal of a developed India.
He also praised Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who will present the first budget of the second quarter of the century.
