After US President Donald Trump once again made the claim of mediation between India and Pakistan, the Congress on Wednesday took a dig at the government, saying that when it seemed that the claims had stopped, Trump has again reminded the world about this.
Party general secretary Jairam Ramesh also said that Trump has made this claim 60 times.
Ramesh posted on one, ‘Just when it seemed that the claims had stopped, President Trump has again reminded the world. “Yesterday, in a meeting with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia in Washington, President Trump reiterated his claim that he had intervened to stop Operation Vermilion.”
The Congress leader said, ‘Of course, he has said this earlier in Saudi Arabia as well as in many other press conferences besides Qatar, Egypt, Britain, Netherlands and Japan.’ He said, ‘Now the number has reached 60.’
The US President has also claimed many times that he had stopped the war between India and Pakistan by threatening tariffs in May this year. India has consistently clarified that the decision to halt military action was taken when contacted by the Pakistani Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) in May this year.
