New Delhi, March 16 (IANS). There has been a decline in the number of LPG cylinder bookings due to reduced apprehension among people regarding the availability of LPG and campaigns launched by governments against hoarding and black marketing in the states. This information was given in an official statement issued on Monday.
PIB India posted on social media handle
The post further said, “The share of online in LPG cylinder booking has increased to 87 percent. This figure was earlier 84 percent. Also, there has been no report of any LPG distributor running out of gas.”
Raids are being conducted across states to prevent LPG hoarding and black marketing and control rooms have been set up in 22 states and union territories to monitor the situation.
The statement requested consumers not to make panic bookings, use digital booking platforms and avoid unnecessary visits to LPG distributors.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas in a statement said the government continues to give priority to the interests of domestic consumers and is ensuring uninterrupted supply of LPG especially to households and priority sectors such as hospitals and educational institutions.
The government is making continuous efforts to meet the demand for LPG.
Two Indian-flagged LPG carrier ships, Shivalik and Nanda Devi, loaded with about 92,712 metric tonnes of LPG, transited the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday and are currently headed towards India. They are scheduled to reach Mundra port on Monday and Kandla port on Tuesday.
