New Delhi, July 3 (IANS). Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra on Friday chaired the first review meeting of the special intensive revision (SIR) of voter lists initiated by the Election Commission of India in the city.
The meeting reviewed the progress made in the first two days of the process, which began on July 1.
BJP national secretary Om Prakash Dhankhar, Delhi BJP organization general secretary Pawan Rana, SIR in-charge and MP Yogendra Chandolia, Delhi SIR team members Ramesh Bidhuri and Sanket Gupta, along with district presidents of all districts, district SIR team members, and BLA-2 coordinators were present in the meeting.
Delhi BJP general secretary and SIR process in-charge Yogendra Chandolia said that like other political parties of Delhi, BJP’s BLA-2 (booth level agents) are duly registered with the Election Commission.
He said that there are a total of 13,033 polling stations in Delhi, out of which registered BLA-2 representatives of BJP are deployed at more than 12,000 centres.
He said that these BLA-2 workers have been engaged in voter verification and mapping work at their respective polling stations for a long time.
He further said that they are fully prepared to extend all possible cooperation and support to the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) appointed by the Election Commission during the SIR process.
He said that on behalf of Delhi BJP, former MP Ramesh Bidhuri and advocate Sanket Gupta are coordinating with the Election Commission and overseeing the training of the party’s BLA-2 representatives.
In another development, a joint meeting of the media department team of Delhi BJP and the newly formed 12 district BJP media teams was held at the state office on Friday.
Chief spokesperson and MLA Abhay Verma addressed this meeting chaired by Delhi BJP’s media chief Praveen Shankar Kapoor.
All the newly appointed district media heads and spokespersons were introduced in the meeting, after which Verma discussed the current political scenario.
Kapoori explained to the participants the working procedures of the media department and the rules for addressing the media.
