Lucknow, June 19 (IANS). Amid the controversy over an alleged sting operation, Bahujan Samaj Party national president Mayawati termed it a planned conspiracy to defame the party and its leadership. He said that before the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2027, political opponents and a section of the media, scared of the party’s increasing activism and mass base, are running misleading and deceptive campaigns.
Mayawati claimed that the process of selection of candidates in BSP is transparent and multi-layered and party officials regularly interact and screen potential candidates to assess their social, political and organizational capabilities.
He called upon the workers to ignore rumors and remain busy in preparations for Mission-2027. BSP chief Mayawati wrote on social media platform It does not run on the support and instructions of the capitalists and rich, but on the strength of the body, mind and money of its own people, which naturally the narrow, casteist, communal and capitalist forces do not like this at all and that is why from time to time and especially when the elections are coming near, they use various tactics to defame the BSP party and the movement as well as its iron lady leadership. I remain engaged.”
The BSP chief further wrote, “In the same sequence, a section of the media, in order to divert people’s attention and cover up the election tricks of other parties, keeps raising question marks about the selection of the BSP party candidate, while whatever financial support the BSP receives is spent legally only on ensuring the victory of the party candidate, which is not hidden from anyone.” Still, it does not suit the media to spread various kinds of false and misleading rumors about it as part of a conspiracy.
He said that it is well known that not only BSP UP State Unit President Vishwanath Pal, but all the other small and big officials and workers of the party are currently engaged in strengthening the party organization and increasing the party’s support base in the entire society, as well as making a possible list of party candidates for the upcoming UP Assembly general elections and doing their concrete screening etc. and among other things, the people meeting them regarding the party’s candidature are asked about their social, political and economic status as well as their loyalty and durability towards the party, etc. In order to understand the situation, like cross-examination in the court, various types of questions and answers are also asked to them, without going into the depth of which it is not appropriate to take it at its full face value.
While appealing, Mayawati said that this is also a request to the media and also to the people of the party that they should not be misled by falling victim to any such conspiracy sponsored by the opposition parties, but should remain engaged with their whole heart in the goal of Mission 2027, seeing your tremendous preparations for BSP Zindabad, the opponents are losing their sleep.
