Jammu, March 12 (IANS). Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, while sharing information related to the health of his father and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, expressed his gratitude for the good wishes of the people.
Posting on the social media platform ‘X’, Omar Abdullah wrote that his father Farooq Abdullah is very happy with all the messages of support, wishes and prayers received since yesterday. He said that Farooq Saheb is extremely grateful for all these tweets, posts and messages.
Omar Abdullah further wrote, “Unfortunately, he alone is not able to respond to all this. He has asked me to post this on his behalf. I and my entire family join him in thanking you all.”
In fact, after the incident of firing on former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah during a private function in Jammu, National Conference leaders expressed grief and concern.
A man tried to attack National Conference President Farooq Abdullah during an event on Wednesday evening. During this, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chaudhary was also present. The suspect is in police custody.
Earlier, Omar Abdullah had told that the deadly attack on his father was foiled due to the swift action of the close protection team provided in his Z+ security cover.
He wrote on X, “Allah is merciful. My father had a narrow escape. Details are not clear yet, but what is known is that a man with a loaded pistol managed to come at point-blank range and open fire. Only the close protection team stopped the bullet and ensured that the assassination attempt was foiled.”
He had also expressed concern about the security breach and said that many questions have not been answered as to how the suspect came so close to the leader with such high security.
He further said, “There are more questions than answers at this point, including how someone Z+ managed to get so close to the NSG-protected former CM.”
