Ranchi, July 1 (IANS). In Jharkhand, the State Information Commission got four new Information Commissioners. Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly appointed Information Commissioners Anuj Kumar Sinha, Tanuj Khatri, Shivpujan Pathak and Amulya Neeraj Khalkho in a ceremony organized at Lok Bhawan in Ranchi on Wednesday.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren was specially present in the ceremony. After the swearing-in, the Governor congratulated all the newly appointed State Information Commissioners and wished them a successful tenure.

He said that the Information Commission is an important pillar of democratic governance, which plays an important role in ensuring transparency, accountability and good governance in administration. He expressed confidence that all the commissioners will discharge their responsibilities impartially and effectively in accordance with the basic spirit of the Right to Information Act, giving top priority to public interest.
The Chief Minister said that Right to Information is an effective medium to strengthen democracy. The active and transparent functioning of the Commission will further strengthen the trust of common citizens on governance. He expected the newly appointed commissioners to work with sensitivity and impartiality.
Union Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth, State Minister Shilpi Neha Tirkey, Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Majhi, MLA Baidyanath Ram and many senior officials of the state government, administrative officials and other distinguished guests were present in the ceremony. Everyone congratulated the newly appointed Information Commissioners and wished them a successful tenure.
In Jharkhand, all the posts of commissioners in the State Information Commission were vacant for the last five years and due to this thousands of cases are pending in the State Information Commission. Now with the appointment of new commissioners, the functioning of the Commission is expected to be strengthened and disposal of pending cases under the Right to Information Act will be expedited.
