Bhopal, July 7 (IANS). Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Rajendra Shukla presented the government’s side on various issues related to health services, medical education and availability of doctors. He said that the state government is working on the policy of ‘zero tolerance’ in matters of corruption. Also clarified that if any kind of irregularity comes to light, an impartial investigation is conducted and strict action is taken against the culprits.
Speaking to reporters, Rajendra Shukla said, “Our government works on the policy of zero tolerance. If a complaint of any kind of deficiency, negligence or corruption comes to light, it is thoroughly investigated. Whoever is found guilty in the investigation, action is taken against him as per the rules.”
On the question related to health services in Indore, he said, “Due to the high requirement of paramedical staff there, temporary arrangements have been made. In view of the manpower requirement in Indore, 35 employees out of the sanctioned posts have been brought on deputation from nearby health centres. As soon as the concerned center becomes fully operational, all these employees will be sent back to their original workplace.”
Regarding the guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and NRI quota in medical colleges, the Deputy Chief Minister said that the state government seriously follows the guidelines issued by the Commission from time to time. He said, “NMC issues its guidelines, manuals and advisories from time to time. The state government ensures that there is no loophole in the admission process including NRI quota after NEET exam. The recently issued advisories will also be followed completely.”
On the issue of shortage of doctors in rural areas, he said that this problem has persisted for a long time, but the government is making continuous efforts to overcome it. He said that with the announcement of new hospitals and health centers, necessary posts are also sanctioned and work is done towards completing the building construction as soon as possible.
On the delay in construction of the health center building in Khajrana area of Indore, he said that the construction work could not start due to problems like encroachment and not getting possession of the allotted land there. He said, “The construction work will be carried forward after resolving all the disputes related to the land and giving formal possession to the Health Department.”
