Gandhinagar, March 18 (IANS). The Gujarat unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday announced the formation of a state-level core group, ‘Pradesh Sanghar Samiti’, as part of preparations for the upcoming local self-governance elections.
State BJP president Jagadish Vishwakarma announced the committee after consultation with the party’s national leadership and advisory board.
Its members include Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Vishwakarma, Union Minister C.R. Patil, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi, State General Secretary (Organization) Ratnakarji, Minister Jitu Vaghani, Minister Hrishikesh Patel, Scheduled Tribe Morcha President and MLA Ganpatsinh Vasava, Minister Darshana Vaghela, former Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama and former Minister I.K. Jadeja is included.
The announcement was made on the day a state-level organizational meeting was held under the chairmanship of Vishwakarma at the BJP headquarters in Gandhinagar. State Organization General Secretary Ratnakarji and State Election Management Committee in-charge Gordhan Zadafia along with state officials, campaign chairpersons and general secretaries, State Election Management Committee members, and district and city leaders were also present in the meeting.
According to the party’s state unit, Vishwakarma gave detailed guidance on organizational preparations and micro-planning for the elections. This included arrangements from the district and city units to the booth level.
He said that the party will launch a door-to-door contact campaign.
He said, “A huge army of BJP workers will go door-to-door and contact people regarding the report card of BJP’s work and the development work done in Gujarat under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.”
He also stressed on strengthening internal coordination. “Communication, connectivity and coordination should be further strengthened through travel, public relations and hard work,” he said while interacting with leaders on pre-poll preparations at the district, city and division levels.
