Gandhinagar, April 3 (IANS). The political conflict between Aam Aadmi Party and BJP has intensified in Gujarat. The state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party rejected the allegations made by Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal in a letter to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. BJP termed it an attempt to mislead the public before the local body elections.

During the press conference at the party headquarters in Gandhinagar, state BJP co-spokesperson and Valsad MP Dhawal Patel said that this letter written by the leaders from Delhi is a failed attempt to spread confusion among the public.

Kejriwal had claimed in his letter that action is being taken against AAP workers in Gujarat. He said more than 160 activists have been arrested and about 145 FIRs have been filed in recent months. He demanded a meeting with the Chief Minister and asked to discuss with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann the action being taken against the workers before the elections.

Responding to this allegation, Dhaval Patel said, “As local body elections approach, such letters are being sent to spread a false narrative. The political theatrics, theatrics and victim card of this anarchist party will never work in Gujarat.”

He said that between 2025 and 2026, about 242 accused were involved in cases in Gujarat in 39 general crimes including serious crimes like attempt to murder, rioting and assault related to this party.

Dhawal Patel alleged that in many cases crimes have also been registered against leaders from outside the state. He said that whether it is Delhi, Punjab or Goa, it has been his habit to do political drama during elections. Playing the victim card by throwing ink or shoes on oneself is an old tactic of theirs and in many cases it is later revealed that this was done by their own workers.

He raised the question, “Should such criminals be protected from the Gujarat Police and government? Does the rule of law not apply to this party?” He also said that if any worker of any political party commits a crime, Gujarat Police will not spare him.

Dhawal Patel alleged that leaders of this party had earlier attacked BJP offices, violated prohibition laws and committed acts like throwing shoes at a former state home minister. He said that the party which supported activist Medha Patkar will never be accepted by the people of Gujarat.

He said, “For the last 30 years, the people of Gujarat have trusted the BJP for the politics of development and peace and will do so in the future too. In the upcoming local body elections, the opposition party will face a complete defeat, while the BJP will win a decisive victory.”
