Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan’ held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on Monday, said India is going to take one of the biggest decisions of the 21st century, and described the proposed women’s reservation law as a historic step dedicated to “women power”.
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi said, “Amidst these important milestones in the country’s development journey, India is going to take one of the biggest decisions of the 21st century. I am saying with utmost responsibility that this is one of the important decisions of the 21st century. This decision is dedicated to women power. Dedicated to worshiping women power.”
Prime Minister Modi described it as a step that will turn the vision of the past into reality and make social justice a core part of governance and decision making.
He said, “This decision is dedicated to women power. It is dedicated to honoring women power. The Parliament of our country is close to creating a new history. A new history that will realize the concepts of the past. A history that will fulfill the resolutions of the future. A resolution of an India that is egalitarian, where social justice is not just a slogan but a natural part of our work culture and decision process. From the state assemblies to the Parliament of the country, the time has come to end the wait of decades; this It’s April 16, 17 and 18.”
Prime Minister Modi said, “The Parliament of our country is on the verge of creating a new history. A new history that will realize the imaginations of the past, that will fulfill the resolutions of the future. The resolution of an India that is egalitarian, where social justice is not just a slogan but a natural part of our work culture and decision-making process.”
He said India is on the verge of taking one of the most important decisions of the 21st century, and described it as a historic step dedicated to the empowerment of women and a much-awaited measure supported by all political parties for decades.
He said, “Amidst these important milestones in the development path of our nation, India stands on the verge of taking one of the most important decisions of the 21st century. I say with utmost responsibility that this decision will be one of the most important decisions of our times. This decision is dedicated to the empowerment of women, a true tribute to the power and dignity of womanhood.”
Prime Minister Modi further said, “The need for reservation for women in democratic structures has been felt for decades. This discussion has been going on for almost four decades. It involves the efforts of all parties and several generations. Each party has taken this idea forward in its own way.”
She said there is a unanimous demand for implementation of the Women Empowerment Act by 2029, and pointed out that Parliament will hold a comprehensive discussion on the issue from April 16, and expressed hope that all parties will work together to take this initiative forward in the interest of women empowerment.
“It was also unanimously demanded that it (Women Empowerment Act) should be implemented by 2029 at any cost,” he said.
PM Modi further said, “We are keeping in mind the deadline of 2029, there is going to be a comprehensive discussion on this in the Parliament from April 16. It is our effort and desire that this work should be done with mutual cooperation and participation, this time too… with the collective efforts of everyone, the dignity of the House will touch new heights. Every woman of the country will also be happy that every party has risen above politics and taken up this important task in their interest.”
A national level ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan’ is being organized at Vigyan Bhawan in support of the proposed amendment to implement the Nari Shakti Vandan Act, 2023.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi were also present on this occasion.
