Mysore, January 18 (IANS). Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of development projects worth Rs 323.04 crore in Varuna assembly constituency in Mysore district.
During this, CM Siddaramaiah said that three programs have been organized for the development of Varuna assembly constituency. Laying foundation stone and inauguration of projects worth Rs 501 crore in 2024, laying foundation stone and inauguration of projects worth Rs 1108 crore in 2025 and today, including Rs 323 crore, a total of development projects worth Rs 1932 crore have been completed in Varun assembly constituency alone.
The Chief Minister was speaking after inaugurating a program organized by the district administration and district panchayat at Kupya village.
He said the government has spent Rs 115,000 crore on Punch Guarantee projects, and apart from this, emphasis is also being laid on development works. He said that development works worth Rs 10,000 crore have been done in Mysore district alone and he is always committed to the development of the district.
Earlier on Saturday, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah made strong remarks on the increasing tendency of policemen to be involved in crimes. He said that when the caretaker starts grazing the fields, it is an unforgivable crime.
He made this comment while talking to the media after inaugurating the annual conference of police officers here.
The Chief Minister said, “In some police stations the department is doing good work, while at some places the functioning is not good. In about 88 cases, policemen themselves have been found involved in crimes. This is like grazing in fenced fields, which is completely unforgivable. Such acts bring disrepute not only to the police department but also to the state government.”
He said the number of crimes has declined in the state since 2003. Kavitala police station of Raichur district has been ranked third among the best police stations in the country.
The Chief Minister said that it is not possible for any crime to be committed without the knowledge of Sub Inspector of Police, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Deputy Superintendent of Police and Assistant Commissioner of Police.
